Brivo, Inc. is a company providing cloud-based access control and video surveillance products for physical security and internet of things applications. Brivo takes access control completely into the cloud, with a state-of-the art IP system that eliminates nearly all hardware and lets you manage. ADT Security Services and Brivo Systems today announced the implementation of a web-based access control solution for five federal facilities.

The two companies began talking a year ago as ADT searched for a product that could provide an easy access control solution for national customers, said Jamie Rosand, vice president of commercial marketing for ADT in Boca Raton, Fla.

We’ll likely never use cards no matter how much I want to. Brivo is a hosted system that uses IP readers and controllers.
EVen though the monthly fees are higher than Brivo, it would cost less to use I-ACS than anything else over the course of a few years. So far ADT has installed the system in 30 sites, some of which were part of an earlier beta test of the product.

We’ve heard stories about how the door was suppose to stay locked in the morning until somebody shows up, but the employees would show up to find that the door already unlocked with nobody at the office.

We use key fobs we had custom made in China, with our logo silk screen on back then for 90 cents each, probably cheaper now with rarely a report of a failed tag.
Either way, technically, even though the physically packaged the two products into one box, the Edge controller is what’s IP based and the reader is just a reader. Our approach is different.
While Rosand could not provide projected sales for the product, she expects over the next 12 months to make significant inroads in retail, aviation, utilities and homeland security markets.
