It’s a gleaming pliable pocket-sized volume that looks at once like a ‘friend to man’ ie a thing of beauty. Asskmil anyone know how far it takes the student? But I can’t think of a better reason for learning French. Thanks for any information or opinions, reltuk.
I can’t claim to speak from experience, but I suppose the time will be well spent. Corrections are welcome especially for projects. But here’s the rub: How is the pronunciation on the recordings?

Working through it increased my fluency, but by how much? You learn pretty much Greek but the book skips the theoretical parts, so you learn intuitively. Not bad for starters, eh?
I think assijil Apology is one of the easier ones. A quick search through the forums didn’t turn anything up, but I did see some mostly fleeting references to Le Latin sans Peine.

How much Greek did you know at the end? But basically I think it’s a good book, a very practical and pedagogically sound approach. You ask about pronunciation.

Like anything else, it is no magic bullet. I already had the target level when I started it. The qssimil speakers have some slight inconsistencies.

But I think it’s a good approach to get to read real Greek as soon as possible. But if that’s asslmil way you want to go, I think Assimil is as good as any other, or better. Learning Greek is a long, slow, slog. Flat Style by Ian Bradley. My guess is after finishing the book you’ll still have difficulties with the Apology.
Maybe later on you want to complete with another more theoretical book, but you don’t have to do everything at once. Greek is difficult whatever you do.
