Beginning Chinese Reader, Part II, Second Edition

I already “knew” almost all of the characters in the book, but only now am I able to read them aloud in running text at a speaking pace comfortably; even with a text I’ve never seen before I’m only slightly hesitant at times.

The books were originally designed for use in full bevinning classes like those offered in the government or those offered in full-time courses in universities.

You don’t need Beginning Chinese specifically, but you will need some textbook or grammar reference. Lesson 40 alone has 21 pages of varied Chinese readings like that!
