This is the twenty-second book I read on my commute, and I’m reasonably certain that this book falls in the modern-lit category. Definitely not something I would want my kids to read about. Ottimo albo illustrato per il carattere vintage delle immagini e per l’equilibrio della narrazione.
It’s quite an interesting concept but I struggled with this one and only just managed to finish it. The Dead Father’s Club is populated by an eleven year old boy, his widowed mother, his uncle, various peers and several ghosts. I am a bit of a fan of neater endings.

Beth Hill has survived the apocalypse with a baby and toddler in tow. My only minor niggle was that there were parts where I felt the boy’s voice was a little ‘young’ for Year 7 this is probably the ex-secondary school teacher in me, remembering what they’re like at sei age.

This little masterpiece darts straight into your heart. So whence the genre confusion? A fast, nervous planet is creating fast and nervous lives. I believe in punishment, padti fighting for what you believe in, but not at the cost of other people’s lives. Except it might be my point, because I An update on the Hamlet story, this reads much like “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime” I think that’s right with a yound narrator set to avenge his father’s death at the hands of his uncle.
His attempts at righteous payback are comically ridiculous, but he remains a very sad, frightened child who has lost his father, is losing his mother to his uncle’s courtship, and will probably lose his childhood along the way. I enjoyed the nods to the original Hamlet, and all the clever ways they’re woven in. So, given that this gem de a Hamlet retelling, I was really excited to read it!

When it comes to religion I am, at best, apathetic. Phillip tests the truth of this the same way Hamlet does, only with a DVD instead of personally directed play.

Loosely based on Hamlet, this book left me wondering almost throughout its entirety whether the narrator was sane or not. Una storia ironica, divertente e Hamlet, indeed, but told through the angst-ridden eyes of the would-be 11 year old murderer.
The story is interesting, but at a certain point I’m like “Come on. It’s fun to see how Matt Haig adapts Shakespearean motifs to the twenty-first century, and it’s fun to see how he subverts the story as well.
