I ksrnighan say I learned how to program C using this book — that distinction goes to the long-forgotten Microsoft Quick C for Windows manuals and a reference manual put out by the Waite Group. C hasn’t change much, but there is some new development that is obviously not covered. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. C is not a big language, and it is not well served by a big book. Don’t read any further until you have this book! I already knew some C when I read this book, but reading this book gave me an appetite for understanding more about how compilers work and about the theory and design of programming languages.
