Just what I was in the mood for. I really enjoyed this book. She’s not stupid, never such. Lhind has been on the run all her life.
I really enjoy Sherwood Smith ‘s “lighter” fantasy novels, such as this one. In fact, the whole story was a cycle of the same type of events. Lhind, though sometimes is boring, is still an interesting character. I do love the types of magic described in this book, which seemed new and innovative to me. As I neared the end of the book, I wondered how she was going to wrap up the story in a few chapters, but she did, and quite nicely too. Lhind even has secrets from herself, for she has few memories, and those are troubling. Especially the case since it’s unclear how old Lhind actually is; people initially perceive her as a young boy, thanks to her Disclaimer: There are so many other plots afoot here that even at the end I am not sure who all the different players and what their intentions are.

Seeing her develop trust in herself emotionally-speaking along with those relationships was very rewarding. The world building wasn’t lost on me, like in some other fantasy novels.

It’s a coming-of-age tgief, although the protagonist is older than usual twenties. But she does, and so we do as well.
Dragged a little bit towards the end, but otherwise solid fantasy. Now, were there things that stretched credulity a bit? This book had been on my to-read list for a long time. None of the characters are really fleshed out, with the possible exception of Lindh herself.

A Torch Against the Night. What other items do customers buy after viewing this item? Lhind is obviously a thief as the title states, but she is also hhief much more.
Could I have balked at the somewhat convenient way Lhind gets randomly swept up in the adventure as one doesor the multitude of ways in which she turns out to be The Special One, whose actions will decide all?
So welcome back, old friends. Yes, they felt te for each other but I was expecting a better confession scene and not when they were being chased.
Just was kind of bleh. Showing of 48 reviews. And thank goodness that it was not full of all the angsty-instalove, grimdark, political, dystopian themes that are so prevalent in YA novels nowadays.

How to write a great review. There was a beautiful easter egg hidden in a letter that the protagonist writes near the thie of that book which mentioned in passing the Imperial Heir and one of the Snow Folk. I’d like to give this a 2 star, but going by the GR ratings, I can’t say I really liked this book.
